JACKSONVILLE - From the harrowing terrains of war zones to the scenic riverbanks of Jacksonville, my journey as a combat veteran has been one of contrasts. While I've witnessed the grim depths of humanity on the battlefield, it's also there that I discovered an indomitable spirit of resilience and unity. Now, back home, I'm on a mission: to channel that same spirit to make Jacksonville the best place to live on Earth.?
Four years in post-war environments like Iraq gave me a perspective that few possess. Amid the devastation, I encountered tales of ancient civilizations, stories of survival, and most importantly, the indefatigable spirit of its people. It made me wonder, "If war-torn nations can rise from the ashes, can't we harness that same energy and unity right here in Jacksonville?"?
This past weekend was a testament to that belief. I have dived into Jacksonville's vibrant community life, from the glittering Council of Jacksonville Arts Awards Ceremony along the river walk on the south bank to the hidden beauty of Congaree and Penn, and the electrifying atmosphere of the Jags game at EverBank Stadium. It was a whirlwind, yes, but it emphasized the power of active community involvement.?
Drawing parallels from my time overseas, I'm reminded of the vast resources and efforts America poured into the reconstruction of nations like Iraq. It begs the question: "Why not invest that same effort and passion in our own backyard?"?

My dream for Jacksonville is clear. I envision a city where every resident and visitor collaborate, forging a future filled with unity, progress, and happiness. Having been in places where the essence of survival was constantly threatened, I passionately believe that shared experiences, understanding, and grace can bridge our differences.?
The battlefields have changed for me, but the mission remains unwavering. As I move forward, my goal is simple: to bring Jacksonville's community together, fostering shared experiences, and actively working to shape a brighter, united future for our city.?
In this journey, every day brings an opportunity to spread love, kindness, and uplift one another. And together, we can indeed make Jacksonville the best place on Earth.?
