Veterans | Top Tags in October
Thanks to those who invited me into great?Veteran-focused conversations on?LinkedIn?in October.
I started this newsletter to share interesting posts that contained insights, resources, and programs that can help #Veterans enhance their economic well-being.?
Often, when I was tagged in a particularly effective post, I found myself thinking “kudos to the author, I hope this is widely-viewed.”?To help that along and recognize Veterans Helping Veterans (or as I call it - #VHV), I put some of the best posts I have seen in the last month in this newsletter.
This month, I am highlighting nine posts...
1.?Is he/she really, OK?
Tyrone Hewitt lists the free the mental healthcare and resources available in this post.
It contains more than a dozen links to sources of support. Save this post and also share this post with your buddies.
2.?Help with growing your business
Blake Hogan announced the next group of Veteran CEOs that will be mentored to accelerate the growth of their businesses.?Check out the announcement and the list of 68 CEOs selected.?
I trust one of the teaching moments is to hire more Veterans!?If you’re a Veteran CEO, I suggest you watch for the next time they are selecting another group to help.
3.?Congratulations
Brian Arrington, M.S. announced that VETS2INDUSTRY has surpassed 80K followers on LinkedIn. This is a testament to the value of the free resources they offer to transitioning Service members.?Please follow them and let’s help them surpass 100k followers this year.
4.?Help with your resume
VetGigs announces a series of weekly free resume workshops. No matter how good you think your resume is, you can always learn and improve it.?
5.?Additional Veteran-oriented resources
Alfredo ?? Torres provides another perspective on additional resources for Veterans and folks to follow in this post.

7.?Sing-along
The Acadiana Veteran Alliance (of Louisiana)?is hosting a Veteran Voices concert. Gotta love their plan – “The free show celebrates the patriotism and bravery of local Veterans while benefitting Acadiana Veteran Alliance and?Moncus Park?in our missions to serve our community!”
8.?Best Daughter Ever
Stephanie Wright, MA, CPM, CDMP creatively supports her retired #Veteran father’s effort to sell his paintings and donate to Veteran causes. I am going to check this out and see what could work for my Christmas list - #BestDaughterEver.
9.?Be a LinkedIn Creator
Rodrigo Brancatelli announces the next round of those selected to participate in LinkedIn’s Creator Accelerator Program.?Having been selected to be in the inaugural class that began in January 2022, I can tell you this is a great program and it welcomes Veteran Voices.?Be on the lookout for future announcements about the next class.
Quick Takes
During October on Veterans Stand-Up I had the chance to discuss important topics with these Veteran thought leaders:
David W. Walker discussed the financial and other support, Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes offers to struggling Veterans. Eviction, utility turn-offs, and food insecurity are common problems they address.
David D. Doerrier described Top Tips for Veterans to give a strong oral presentation.?His insights are particularly relevant if this would be the first presentation at your new company.?#FirstImpressionsMatter.
David Vardeman and I discussed the characteristics of the best organizations that support Veterans.?I found his thoughts helpful in deciding which organization to support, especially as more solicit funds around this time of the year.
James Gfrerer and I talked about the challenges of not being tech savvy in today’s environment. He offered an interesting perspective on what the satellites supporting communication over Ukraine means for better internet connectivity across our country.
Brendan Duebner described how dealing the soldiers who struggled with financial issues led him to create Life Skills for Soldiers in this video.?Watch the video to learn how you can get a free account and access to the tools.
I continue to believe LinkedIn provides a great platform for Veterans to get information and support to pursue their #AmericanDream.
If you don’t already, follow these voices.
