Veterans SA Tertiary Scholarship Program launches
Open Door Initiative
Improving the wellbeing of veterans and public safety personnel and their families.
Veterans SA has launched a new pilot program offering financial support to veterans and partners of current and former Australian Defence Force (ADF) members to undertake training or higher education study.
Higher education and training are great pathways to transition from the military to civilian workforce, as well as further career aspirations for both veterans and defence partners. However, financial challenges can be a barrier to pursuing these opportunities.
Recognising this challenge, the Veterans SA Tertiary Scholarship Program has been introduced.
A total of $50,000 (incl. GST) in funding is available to support studies undertaken at TAFE, university, or a registered training organisation in Semester 2, 2024.
Eligible applicants can apply to receive up to 75% of their out-of-pocket education expenses, capped at $5,000 (incl. GST) per applicant. The funds can be used to support costs such as tuition, textbooks, resources and required course equipment.
The grant program will give higher priority to applicants who seek to develop their skills and knowledge in the State Government’s priority skills areas:
? construction
? defence and space
? early childhood education and care
? health and aged care
? IT and cyber security
? manufacturing and carbon neutral energy
? hospitality and tourism
? resources
Applications for the Veterans SA Tertiary Scholarship Program are now open until 18 June 2024.
