Veterans Day - a time to remember and honor those who have served and sacrificed

Take a moment on the eve of Veterans Day to remember and honor those who have served and defended our country and upheld our highest ideals.

My grandfather, Raymond Palmer, joined the Amy Air Corps in WWII, completing every mission and flying his crew safely back home before he eventually continued on to serve in the Kansas Air National Guard, retiring as a General Officer. Before him, his father, Roy Palmer, also responded to the call, serving in the Army's mechanized infantry during the Great War.

Today, I am also proud to honor my new son-in-law, Adam Schoffstall, the Army Ranger who returned from Afghanistan, fell in love with my daughter, Grace, deployed to Iraq, returned to Kansas a year ago during the COVID pandemic, married his true love, and returned to his base at Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks Alaska, where he continues his career of service.

Heros are those who protect others and rise to the occasion when the stakes are the highest.
