Our Liberating Laser Cutting-Edge Armed Forces Fighting Soldiers (Villanelle)?

?Fighting soldiers of our dynamic liberating armed forces.

the Nam, Afgan, Japan, Duetchlan, Polan, and many sands.

Lighting the way as blazing laser-cutting edge torches.

Defeating climates, mosquitoes, sand storms, tough faces,

urban warfare, roadside bombs, and crashing clans.

Fighting soldiers of our dynamic liberating armed forces.

Sending loved ones their new address changes,

stories, photos, and emails from changing hands.

Lighting the way as blazing laser-cutting edge torches.

Sweating faces, bruised, bloodied, and reinforced

a soul with a steamy forehead under a hot helmet stands.

Fighting soldiers of our dynamic liberating armed forces.

Sleeping in sandy, humid, scorpions’ desert trenches,

thunder blasting, “Boom!” Dropping bomb lands.

Lighting the way as blazing laser-cutting edge torches.

Diving from a stealth military aircraft while in flight,

radar undetectable. Camouflaged, flown by hearts—so grand.

Descending in the middle of the night to end the fight.

Comrades in arms, unbreakable, destiny rendezvous reassured,

having each other’s back, on the attack, no one left the band

Palms cut, blood flows, a strengthened life’s handshake secured.

Fighting terroristas, communistas, and demented sapiens,

psychological, spiritual, and physical manifestations for the dammed.

Cosmos universality of life’s mysterious alignment—assured.

Smiling loved ones at home wearing yellow broaches,

with anxiety, praise, and uplifting valiance—we understand.

Uplifting fighting soldiers of our dynamic liberating armed forces.

Author’s Note:?The Villanelle poem was invented in Italy during the renaissance of the mid-sixteenth century as a pastoral tercet with a musical accompaniment. It then migrated to France. In the nineteenth century, it migrated to England and, during the twentieth century, to America. It consists of nineteen lines with an aba rhyming sequence. This is my twenty-first-century America extended version of the Villanelle poem, specifically designed for my special operations comrades in arms, uplifting liberty, freedom, and justice for the oppressed from the land and home of the free created by the braves like me, “De Oppressor Liber!”
