Veteran's Day 2016

Veteran's Day 2016

Last year I wrote something small in regards to Veterans Day so I thought I would share the same sentiments. At the time I still had the a fresh mindset having recently left Military service.

"There always seem to be common inaccuracies and misconceptions on both Memorial Day and Veteran's Day. Being that I am a veteran spending my first year in the business sector this has become more noticeable so I thought I would clear a few things up.

Memorial Day is a day to simply honor the fallen. Simply take some time to appreciate the freedoms we are given here in the United States and those that sacrificed all to retain them. Lower the flag at half staff, call the families who have suffered the loss and say a few words for those who never made it home.

Veterans Day on the other hand is a chance to recognize the men and women who have severed honorably. There are no expectations by us Veterans, in fact most of us don't want anything. I for one don't have always compared my service to Special Operators such as the Rangers, SEALs and Green Berets. In contrast to what they have sacrificed and experienced it makes my 9 years pale in comparison. So Simply say "thanks" and I will say it was my pleasure and be on my way. We have served because we wanted to and that's all the satisfaction we need. If you choose to be generous tomorrow do so with that in mind.

God Bless America."
