Vet Support Newsletter May 2024

We’re back!…with plenty to share in this month’s newsletter…

This month we have a few of our latest case studies, details of the Diagnostic Imaging services we offer, a summary of our recent visit to the ESAOTE Vet Conference in May and more! Please reach out and tell us what you want us to share and provide for you and your veterinary team!

Recent Case Studies:

Biomedtrix Canine Total Hip Replacements

1) This patient was a two-year old, 10kg female Border Terrier with osteoarthrosis of the left hip. The discomfort associated with this could not be managed conservatively so a left THR was performed using a CFX No. 2 femoral stem, BFX 16mm acetabular cup and a +2, 8mm femoral head. The patient could not accommodate a larger femoral stem. I am (reliably) informed by Biomedtrix that non-cemented (biologic) femoral stems in smaller sizes (two and three) will be available from next year. Watch this space...!

2) A good solution for marked right hip dysplasia causing significant discomfort in a young (nine month old) Labrador cross. Despite weighing only 18kg, relatively large biologic prostheses could be implanted in this patient (@Biomedtrix No. 7 stem with a large lateral bolt and a Biomedtrix BFX 24mm cup with a +3, 17mm head). The non-cemented nature of the prostheses should inherently facilitate their longevity.

“Incredible level of service, staff really do care for the animals here. The surgeons have done an incredible job and given my dog his life back. 10th – 12th May 2024 ESAOTE Vet Conference

Practice owners Shane Morrison and Charlotte Morrison recently attended the Esaote VET 2nd edition of MRI and ultrasound in Veterinary Medicine held in the beautiful Sardinia.

The conference invited world renowned speakers from across Europe and the USA to discuss recent developments and innovations in advanced diagnostics, particularly with MRI. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Esaote VET organisers for arranging such a fantastic event and also the spectacular speaker line up who made it such a worthwhile and interesting conference.
