As we round out 2020, it's important to take some time over these weeks to stop and reflect and, you know, look at the good as well as the challenging things that have happened this year. Now, for many people, it's been really, really tough, we've gone through so much uncertainty and certainly an unprecedented set of events than I've ever experienced in my lifetime. But I also, I know that there've been people who have had the best years ever in their businesses, they've managed to grow and scale to numbers that they wouldn't have expected, certainly when we all heard about COVID-19 back at the beginning of the year. But we also have to appreciate that a lot of people who have gone through, as I said, some of the most tough challenges, high levels of chaos, concern, uncertainty and some people have obviously lost loved ones through this as well. But what I want to leave with you today and first and foremost is a thank you to everybody who has supported ScaleUp Your Business, me, the journey that I've been on this year, I can remember all the various twists and turns that I went through. It started off with me being stuck in San Francisco back in March, when everything was starting to get locked down, then it was about coming back and having to deal with a lot of clients. Some of them literally went into hibernation for some time because they were in so much pain and so much worry about what could happen. Then there was the dynamic of homeschooling and having to be very present for my family and making sure that that was the number one priority.
And then as we got to the second half of the year and starting to come out of the summer here in the UK, lots of people wanting help, lots of people starting to feel more confident, starting to realise that they have to take action with their businesses, you know, starting to use government loans and investing those things back to drive growth and starting to think ahead now to 2021.
So, it's been quite a roller coaster and for everyone out there who's an entrepreneur, the people who listened to Scale Up Your Business and the people who come into our world, it's a roller coaster all the time, but no more so than 2020. So, my message today, other than to say thank you for the support, is just use these few weeks over the Christmas holiday break to first and foremost, look back at what you have achieved, because if you look closely enough, there'll be some amazing things that you've got done this year. Some things that you've achieved that you didn't think were possible at the beginning of the year, also reflect on the things that didn't go right, look at the results, think of them as feedback and think about how you would do things differently now that you have a new year ahead of you to be able to make change and do those things. Importantly, spend this time with your families. You know, taking time for your own sort of personal needs, your own personal health, because if you can sort of do that and you can give yourself that space to reflect, to just relax and refresh, then you're going to give yourself the power to be able to go into next year with the right intention, the right focus. And you know, I wouldn't be surprised at all if there are people that go through 21 and say, it's the best year they've ever had in their business, the best year they've had in their life, because there's often a slingshot that happens, sometimes when we're pulled back so far with, as I said, with all the chaos and uncertainty that we've gone through with COVID-19, there's that determination, that hunger, if you like, that relentlessness to spring back quickly.
So, my message and my gift to you, if you like, my thought, is I want that to be what you achieve and what you experience in 2021. So, to everyone as I said, thank you very much, have a great holiday period and most importantly, enjoy time with your family, getting set for an amazing 2021.
