We’re so excited to announce that Marie Chevrier Schwartz has joined TechTO as our new CEO.?

Marie will be our first ever “CEO-in-Residence”, a one-of-a-kind program we created to attract top entrepreneurial talent to the role. The expectation is for TechTO’s CEO-in-Residence to lead the tech community for a 12-24 month “tour of duty”, shaping the tech community in their vision and leaving their mark on the organization, but ultimately to leave and start their next startup.?

“Marie is the real deal. She is an experienced startup founder who believes in the power of community and has invested in helping others while raising over $15M in venture capital and building a team of over 60 people. Jason and I are excited to see how Marie leads TechTO into a new chapter of growth and impact,” says Alex Norman, co-founder of TechTO.

Jason adds, “This unique CEO-in-Residence role allows the tech community to benefit from the leadership and experience of top startup founders, instead of career administrators or bureaucrats. We believe this has been the secret weapon of TechTO for the last 10 years, and we’re excited to see how the next generation of community leaders influences the next 10 too!”

Marie is a well-known name in Canada’s tech ecosystem and has been a contributing member of TechTO since 2018 as a community director for TechTO’s Retail vertical. As the former founder and CEO of Sampler, Marie led the company through years of innovation and growth before her company went through a series of growth challenges and closed in the summer of 2024. Marie is also a mentor to many startups in our community via her different roles as an entrepreneur in residence and is known for her transparent voice on key issues impacting our community including;? Mental Health, Parental Leave Benefits, etc.

“I am coming into this role with a deep admiration for the community of TechTO and the incredible builders that are part of it. I know firsthand how hard it is to build a business and I’ll be focused on maximizing the impact that we can have on its members, their companies and the ecosystem as a whole.”

Community members got a chance to meet Marie at yesterday’s TechTO event at U of T’s Rotman School.
