Master Gardener?opens in cinemas tomorrow!
Starring?Joel Edgerton,?Sigourney Weaver?and newcomer?Quintessa Swindell,?this is a brooding and visually striking conclusion to Schrader’s 'lonely man' trilogy. Narvel Roth (Edgerton) is the meticulous head gardener at Gracewood Gardens, where he tends to both the horticultural and more?… personal, needs of the dowager Mrs Haverhill (Weaver). The arrival of Mrs Haverhill’s unruly and headstrong niece Maya (Swindell) awakens in Roth a dark past that he’d previously buried, and plunges both of them into an underworld of threat and violence.
Proving the enduring appeal of Schrader's dense and dangerous worlds, Master Gardener nevertheless explores a more nurturing and vulnerable dimension to its leading man, and suggests the possibility of forgiveness in the cruel world that shaped him.
