Vertical supremacy

Every individual wants to move up in life: be it the social cadre, professional vicinity or the intellectual prowess. Being able to excel and reach the highest echelons in a specific field or place satisfies the ego of each and every human being on the planet (barring a few saints maybe). Therefore, we can deduce that vertical is better than lateral : as nobody wants to keep going forward(ONLY), they want to keep moving upwards as well.

This concept of vertical excellence can be best portrayed in the form of real estate and its counterparts. For a long time, World Trade center was at the pinnacle of high-rise buildings and stood as a monument for the skyscrapers of the world. They had to even allow a viewing chamber just so that tourists could flock around the place and enjoy the panoramic views of the city. Then came the buzz of the Dubai tower being the highest building in the world and that also has a viewing facility where tourists as well as locals can go for a viewing. Even until now, the tallest tower spot is being contested for and under construction in a few different parts of the world.

The idea of beginning with such a long prologue was not that alluring however I had to emphasize on the importance of vertical being supreme and adored by the masses. Real estate only has one charm and that is location. Any strip of land or air would be a goldmine if its location is prominent and it boasts views that are going to mesmerise its inhabitants. This brings me to a concept of luxury living in the sky. Land itself is a rare commodity, we can not have more of what we have been given. If, however, we start constructing vertically, we can rake up skyscrapers and increase the space given to us exponentially. It does create hiccups for maintenance of the places where from a few hundred people in a given space, you fit hundreds or maybe thousands of people but everything can be managed and planned and rolled out.
