The Vertical Mile is the Miracle Mile

The Vertical Mile is the Miracle Mile

In the quiet dawn of a new day, there is a sacred path, a journey not measured in steps across the earth but in the elevation of the soul—a journey I call “The Vertical Mile.” It is not a mile that stretches outward across the plains or follows the winding roads of the world. Instead, it ascends, rooted in the soil beneath our feet, yet extending endlessly towards the heavens above. It is here, in the Vertical Mile, that we find the essence of what it means to be both grounded and limitless, human and divine.

This journey calls to mind the wisdom of Psalm 62:5, “My soul waits in silence for God only, for my hope is from Him.” The Vertical Mile begins with this waiting—a quieting of the spirit, a moment of stillness where the noise of the world fades, and we turn our hearts upwards. In this silence, we surrender our fears, our grief, and our doubts, anchoring ourselves in the solid ground of faith. We wait, not with the impatience of the world, but with the deep assurance that our hope comes from God alone.

As we ascend this Vertical Mile, we are reminded that the path is both narrow and steep. It requires strength not just of the body but of the spirit. Yet, with each step, we are lifted higher, drawn closer to the divine. We begin to see that the challenges we face, the grief we carry, are not weights that hold us down but are the very tools that shape our ascent. In this climb, we are connected to the earth, feeling its steady presence beneath us, while also reaching out to the heavens, knowing that our journey is guided by a higher power.

This connection between earth and heaven is what makes the Vertical Mile a Miracle Mile. It is a place where the finite touches the infinite, where the temporal meets the eternal. As we climb, we realize that our journey is not just for ourselves but for those who have gone before us and those who will come after. In this way, our grief transforms into a legacy, a living testimony to the power of love and the strength of the human spirit.

The Vertical Mile teaches us that in our most profound moments of silence and surrender, we are closest to the divine. It is here that we find not just recovery from our grief but a deep, abiding peace that transcends understanding. We learn that our lives, though rooted in this world, are also part of a much grander design. Each step we take is a step towards the fulfillment of that divine purpose.

In the end, the Vertical Mile is a journey of hope, of connection, and of transformation. It is a reminder that while we may walk through valleys of shadow, our souls are destined to rise. By tapping into the divine through our souls, by surrendering our will to the higher will, we find that our grief, though heavy, can be lifted. We carry with us the legacy of those we have lost, not as a burden but as wings that help us soar.

In this sacred ascent, we find that the Vertical Mile is indeed the Miracle Mile—a path that leads us not just to recovery but to renewal, not just to survival but to a deeper understanding of life and love. Through the now and the ever after, may we all find the strength to climb, the faith to wait in silence, and the hope that comes from the Devine.
