Vertical & Horizontal Lines on Your Kiln
What causes them?
Horizontal lines can be caused by a variety of factors.? Horizontal lines can be the effect of the gear bottoming out in the pinion when the mesh is too tight. Horizontal lines can also be caused by misalignment of the carrying rollers.
Vertical lines are caused from extreme misalignment of the carrying rollers of that pier. You can also get thrust patterns in the thrust roller and thrust face of the tire and not have lines in the riding face of the tire. In this case the total thrust at all or most of the piers along the length of the kiln is too great.
