As populations grow across the countries the socio-economic structure keeps continuously changing and so does the urban & suburban living. Further added are new generations opting to live in urban spaces with busier lifestyles, choosing lesser time for travel, competitive work environments and greater economic longings. The growing trends in the metropolitan cities are vertical developments supported by proper urban regulations and quality construction. In many cities the unexpected growth has created population explosions with congested transportation system. So comes the need of town planning and construction regulations which support the vertical growth.
The phenomenon started in 1930s and it has spread across all metropolitan cities and dominated the town centers. High population density has driven higher prices and need to build upwards to decrease the cost per floor area of the buildings. This will grow more and spread across the cities with more efficient energy usage, better transportation systems and shift in living conditions.
