Sivaraman S.
Architect SSR - I help Architects in Business Growth at Alpha Club | Founder - Dehub for Architects, India's No. 2 Architecture Community, ArchitectsHelpline, intoAEC.ai, SpaceMush & BCMC, Chennai
Architects are the leaders in the construction industry. A clients dream for their space, be it a house or a resort gets told first to an Architect and from there it trickles down to the entire industry. From the engineering consultants to the contractors to the material supplier to the Mason, everyone listens to the slow whispers of the Architect. Such is the influence of Architects in the construction industry. The pioneer we have selected for discussing in Story of the Month, Sundar Sivaraman, is probably one of the or the most influential Voices amidst the Architectural fraternity in the country.
3 Years back, in 2020 when the the whole world was reeling under a global recession due to the Covid19 pandemic, Sivaraman was one among the few who was undeterred by the external influences and was focussing on the future of not just his firm but the entire Architecture fraternity on the whole. A future which only was visible to him and his close aides back then, was a game changer which has benefitted at least 1000 Architectural Startups in the last 3 years.
A strong believer in the concept of collaborated growth, Sivaraman and his firm have collaborated with all those Architectural firms which have resulted in the mutual growth of those firms and at the same time establishing him as one of the goto Voices to be heard for in a world full of Echoes. We shall be analysing the various novel initiatives that has made him the man he is today in the coming weeks, but for today we shall look into where it all started from.
When he first entered the scene of Architectural Practice in 2011, in Chennai, Sivaraman was not a fresher but a fairly experienced Architect with 4 years of International experience, having worked in a reputed design firm in London since 2008. He still remembers that the stark difference between Architectural practice in London and Chennai always was a point he pondered and wanted to work on. He had a vision to bridge the gap right from his initial days in India. While he wanted to bring in the global viewpoint into the practice , he strongly believed in the strength of local good practice guides. So he started working on a unique collaborative model which gives architectural startups access to global perspectives which is yet rooted in the local and native thought process.
