The Versatile AI: From Perfect English to Delightful Gibberish
I recently had a conversation with a friend who was in the midst of recruiting. She was commenting on the poor written English in some of the applications including some amusing malapropisms. This sparked a discussion about how such errors might soon become obsolete as applicants increasingly rely on GPT and other LLMs to craft impeccable applications. Having done a fair number of recruitments myself, I couldn't help but feel a sense of loss for the small dash of humor that these errors brought to what can sometimes be a laborious and disheartening process.
This got me to thinking: does it have to be so? Can GPT, known for generating flawless prose, also produce amusingly bad English? I decided to put this to the test by asking GPT to write a job application filled with humorously poor English. The result was surprisingly delightful...
From now on I'll be looking for applicants who have used ChatGPT (or similar), but had the skill to craft a creative prompt which can inject some humour, or other element of novelty into the resulting output.
