Vermont's Greenest Residential Building Award
Greg Whitchurch
Passivhaus & Electrification advocate w/ non-profit orgs & media. Owner/designer Passive House (PHIUS+, net positive). Two EVs (V2H); Solar water & grid-tied PV w/ batts; Geothermal; Battery lawn/logging/snow tools.
We’re happy to announce that our passive house has won another award. Last Thursday night at the annual VT. Green Bldg. Network’s annual Gala we were awarded the “Vermont’s Greenest 2015 Residential Bldg.” award - AND we get to keep the cumulative plaque of all winners until next year’s ceremony! We were also awarded a VGBN “Net Zero” certificate.
Not surprisingly, so far all of the winners of this award are passive houses. The PH standard is aimed at the sweet spot where home equity, comfort & health, cost-to-build-vs.-cost-to-own, climate & utility resilience, and sustainability all meet. And they’re notoriously easy to net zero (cheap & tiny footprint). Thanks, VGBN!

8 年Greg, Congratulations on the award. I feel a little strange congratulating you on receiving an "award" for your labor of love. I saw this house when it was 3/4 finished and it amazed me how a house could be heated with the wattage of a blow dryer. What a world it will be when "all" of us benefit from this type of housing! I do applaud you for your investment in the project which let us all know it is possible to get to the "sweet spot" mentioned above. You've truly moved the needle, this house will be EPIC !!!!
