VeriCon Test Systems for Bottle and Container Integrity Testing

VeriCon Test Systems for Bottle and Container Integrity Testing

Bottles are available in different shapes and sizes. From water, juices, soft drinks to motor oil and household cleaning products, everything is available in bottles. However, a leak in such bottles can allow contaminants to enter the product, thereby compromising its freshness and quality, not to mention the leaking product makes a mess and affects brand recognition. Container closure integrity testing is an important part of bottle and container manufacturing, as it ensures that the quality of the products passes standard parameters. By leak testing bottles and containers, manufacturers guarantee a high-quality product that is free from seal defects, leaks and cracks.?

Leak Testing using VeriCon Technology

VeriCon inspection systems are a complete line of leak detectors for online leak detection of bottles and containers for the blowmolding, injection molding, food & beverage industries. For accommodating multiple container specifications, line speed, handling and test sensitivity requirements, VeriCon test systems are available in several configurations including linear leak testing, continuous motion leak testing, and trimmer units for indexing installations.?

“VeriCon is one of the most reliable and longest-standing technologies at PTI. We regularly get a call to replace a system after being in operation for more than 20 years.” Comments Oliver Stauffer, CEO, PTI USA.

To ensure consistent container closure integrity testing (CCIT) or leak detection, all VeriCon systems are incorporated with high-resolution non-drifting transducers (either pressure transducers or vacuum transducers). Reliability and performance are 2 prime reasons that make PTI's VeriCon test systems unique. In addition, these test systems are operator friendly, minimize downtime and increase productivity. VeriCon test systems also include reject statistics and test result trends, permitting for on-demand analysis of container quality.

Technology Overview

Package integrity testing using VeriCon systems includes a 3-step process: Filling, Equalizing and Testing. The technology utilizes either pressure decay or vacuum decay to test empty or filled bottles. VeriCon testers consist of either one or more testing stations (test heads). The container is either filled with pressure or for vacuum systems, a vacuum is pulled inside the container. In the equalizing phase, pressure or vacuum decay is allowed to stabilize within the container. The amount of pressure or vacuum decay is monitored and measured during the test cycle which correlates to the presence of leaks within the container. The pass/fail result displays on the operator panel and the defective container is rejected from the line.

VeriCon’s Benefits and Features:

? High-resolution non-drifting transducers (either pressure transducers or vacuum transducers) for consistent leak detection

? Repeatable results with accuracy of leak testing.

? Uncomplicated touch screen interface 24/7 operation

? Extremely low maintenance and easy to maintain

? Potential to put up various container specifications, line speed, special handling and test sensitivity requirements
