The verdict is Connection & Collaboration

The verdict is Connection & Collaboration

We’re into a new month - Happy June! It would be remiss of me not to mention a fantastic highlight from the month just passed.

We had a small and mighty gathering on May 24th in celebration of Creativity and Wellness week. In the spirit of co-creation, each participant brought their curious thoughts and burning questions forward for collective consideration and this sparked interesting conversations.

We talked about what creativity means for us individually in terms of our wellbeing and debated more broadly whether creativity is valued and taken seriously. Participants shared their experiences working across various creative and arts organisations and what challenges and wins they have seen in different settings.

We expressed our appreciation for organisations doing great work in supporting creativity, including Cambridge Community Arts and Strawberry Fair which foster inclusivity and access.?

A strong case was made for:

  • using art for wellness and resilience for family bonding, connection and bonding.
  • examining who gets public praise for their creativity and ensuring inclusivity
  • Helping people direct their creativity effectively
  • Making therapeutic interventions more readily available in public places
  • Forming partnerships to deploy creativity for wellness within institutions

Two words to sum up our inaugural gathering are: CONNECTION and COLLABORATION.

Chloe Ambrose ?? and I agree that we do not have to wait until next year to talk about how creativity benefits our health and wellbeing so watch this space!

Our thanks to Allia for the generous support with the event space.
