And the verdict is - Browser push notifications are effective indeed!
We launched browser push notifications a month ago, and had some early customers. We were certain that people who opted in would click on them, because our browser push notifications can be personalized. What we werent sure of was, how many would opt in ,in the first place. After all, not many of the users end up creating an account. And this is precisely the audience we are trying to reach.
After launching it on different types of sites, we saw two interesting results. One of our customers - a price comparison site - gets really good click rates - all the way upto 16% - and that too - without personalization. The other one - in the luxury apparel segment got opt ins equal to 1/3 of their registered base - in a single month!
So we are convinced - these are going to be a hit. Unless of course every one starts sending too many of these - and irrelevant messages! The great thing is that if this takes off, people may not need to build mobile apps anymore.

8 年Kedar Thakar, to answer you, the notifications are sent only to those who opt in, and we were surprised to find that itself to be pretty high. they can unsubscribe if they want to. but we believe that once the opt in is done , good content and the right frequency is important
