On April 13, 2017, I was honored to help secure a $1,345,000.00 jury verdict for my client, Rony Joseph, in Collier County, Florida.
In early 2013, a taxi cab driver ran a stop sign, striking Rony in the left rear quarter panel. This impact drove Rony's car into oncoming traffic, directly into the path of a Dodge Durango SUV. This second impact shattered windows, activated airbags, and threw Rony's car into the woods.
EMS arrived quickly and rushed Rony and others to the hospital. From there, Rony recieved treatment from a variety of doctors and spine specialists for both cervical (neck) and lumbar (low back) injuries, including severe herniations. Rony will require spinal injections and invasive surgery in the future.
After the crash, Rony experienced limitations at work and at home. As the father of two young children, Rony has missed out on some formative experiences as a result of this crash.
The jury agreed. After deliberating for just over 1 hour, the jury returned a verdict for all requested economic damages (past and future medical needs, past lost wages) as well as $1 Million in noneconomic damages, for a total jury verdict of $1,345,000.00.*
