Boxing in the UK is currently booming following the success of our boxers on the world stage. None more than heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua.

Joshua is the perfect example of how boxing can change a young person's direction in life. He makes no secret of the fact that his life was heading the wrong way and that boxing has turned out to be his salvation.

Boxing offers young people structure and discipline in their outlook to life. It provides them with a focus to train and eat healthily all under the guidance of the many volunteer coaches that are the lifeblood of our amateur boxing clubs.

From the clubs I have worked with, there clear indications that local boxing clubs get kids off the streets and into the gym. This has helped dramatically reduce petty crime and anti social behaviour in many areas. Thus reducing the burden on all of our emergency services, so that they can concentrate on the real emergencies.

Anthony Joshua is taking boxing to a new level selling out 80,000 seater stadiums for fun. The kids have found a hero that they can look up to and aspire to copy. This is why we have more and more kids arriving at our boxing clubs.

It is really important that this up and coming generation of boxers have an opportunity to ply their learned skills in a boxing show environment.

We are looking for venues who would be interested in staging shows to help keep this positive momentum moving forward. All the boxing side of things will be organised in conjunction with the ABA and the local clubs.

A great way for companies to entertain their customers and help the clubs raise much needed funds for the upkeep of their facilities.
