Venue and Event Vibes Monthly
Our latest round-up of our team's venue finding and event management exploits begins with our team's tips on your next conference agenda. We explore Glasgow, and look at some of the venue visits the team has been on throughout September!
Planning a conference on collaboration? Our expert tips will inspire your agenda
Mark Dixon , Bien Venue's Client Services Director, says: “If your goal is to encourage your attendees to work together to tackle common issues, then you need more than a staged panel session. There are multiple opportunities to showcase inspiration while getting your teams to do the thinking in a way that also motivates change.”
Agenda ideas
Steve Perkins , Managing Director at GOTO Events, explains: “Charity team building activities are always a hit at conferences. They create a feel-good factor that unites everyone around a worthy cause and inspires genuine collaboration. To top it off, the impact goes beyond the event, directly helping the local community. It’s a meaningful, memorable experience that leaves everyone feeling connected and accomplished.”
Mark adds, “Collaborative art projects are another fun and effective team building activity. Creating a collective art piece representing your company’s vision and values can be a unifying experience for attendees that leaves a lasting memory with the resulting artwork.”
Niamh Waters , Bien Venue Meetings and Events Executive, says: “Interactive workshop sessions are a fantastic way to engage your delegates. You could introduce these as breakout sessions from the main conference, during which your teams tackle real-world problems and present their solutions to the group. This often sparks creativity while promoting collaborative problem-solving.”
Mark adds, “Skill-sharing workshops are another great option. Encouraging employees to share their unique skills and knowledge with a wider team encourages a culture of continuous learning and teamwork. It’s amazing how much people can learn from each other in these settings where you actively invite them to collaborate.”
Kerry visits Formby Hall
Our Managing Director, Kerry Edwards , has been on a fantastic trip with industry professionals to experience everything Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa has to offer our meetings and events clients.
The trip began with a private group golf lesson from a PGA Golf Pro and some practice at the Toptracer driving range.
Kerry says: "It was lots of fun, informative, and would make a brilliant teambuilding activity - but I'm no Tiger Woods! My ‘attempt’ at golf was followed by a delicious sparkling afternoon tea at the Fairway Grill, an indulgent ESPA spa treatment, and a relaxing afternoon in their extensive leisure facilities"
During the evening, the group spent the evening enjoying a 3-course dinner while entertained by the incredible Paul Pashley and Band at their Big Band Swing Night. From jazz to rock and roll classics, it was a night to remember??

Spotlight on: Glasgow
Glasgow is a Scottish gem, and a hub for international travel and conferences. What makes the city known for its charming population and industrial history the perfect place to host your event? We take a look in our Spotlight destination series...
Culture
In 2019, Glasgow was named the UK’s top cultural and creative city as part of a report by the European Commission. Putting Glasgow ahead of London, Brighton, and Manchester, the report also ranked Glasgow as Europe’s leader for openness, tolerance and trust, befitting their tag line ‘People Make Glasgow’.
The city’s museums contribute to Glasgow’s wealth of creativity and culture. Museums include the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and the Riverside Museum, attracting millions of visitors. And to further immerse themselves in creativity, visitors can attend a concert of the OVO Hydro or King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut.
Quirky Venues
Glasgow is home to many unique venue spaces, perfect for a range of events.
The Engine Works has a variety of spaces, adaptable to any event. Dating back to 1837, the venue sits on the Clyde and was used to produce steam engines for boats from around the world. In 2015, after laying empty for a few years, it was refurbished into a multifunctional arts and events space. Its main space is The Engine Room. The room has a rustic vibe and comes complete with heated floors and staging, and is fully accessible.
Another of Glasgow’s quirky venues is Platform Glasgow . Platform is an events venue in the city centre. Located in converted railway arches, this inspiring place offers a bar, restaurant, and versatile event space. The old railway arches have been remodelled, yet retain charm and original features to give guests a welcoming feel.
