Announcing the 13th Annual Deshpande Symposium Award Winners
We are thrilled to announce the three institutions and one individual honored at the 13th Annual Deshpande Symposium Awards. Nominated by their peers from across the world, these winners have a proven track record of significant contributions to the advancement of innovation and entrepreneurship (I&E) within their campuses, communities, and beyond. Now in its 10th year, the Awards Ceremony took place at the University of Maryland Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center, continuing a proud tradition of closing out the second night of the Deshpande Symposium by offering attendees an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments within the wider community of I&E leaders.
U.S. Department of Energy’s Solar Prize Round 8 Offering More Than $4.2 Million in Prizes
The Solar Prize, designed to accelerate U.S. solar innovations, just announced the launch of Round 8! The American-Made Solar Prize Round 8 offers more than $4.2 million in prizes to entrepreneurs with a solar innovation capable of reaching commercialization in 3-5 years. This round includes an optional Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Contest, offering a $200,000 prize pool to competitors who are focused on advancing solar in underserved communities. Plus, up to 10 teams can win funding in the Power Up Contest, designed to support and advance new and diverse teams that have compelling applications but aren’t selected to advance to the Set! Contest. Register for an info session on Tuesday, July 9 at 2:00 p.m. ET and follow the competition on HeroX for additional tips, guidelines, and information on the application process. Submissions are due September 26.
Request for Qualifications: VentureWell’s NOAA OCRA Resource Pool?
In support of our work as a Phase 1 recipient of the Ocean-Based Climate Resilience Accelerators (OCRA) program funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), we are currently looking for eligible service providers with technological and market assessment experience. These providers will support startups and teams of innovators developing tools and information systems for ocean-based technologies that support climate resilience, specifically in the following areas:
