VENTRICULAR TACHYCARDIA

Also called V-tach.

Three or more PVCs occur in a row and the

ventricular rate exceeds 100beats/min

This arrhythmia may preceds ventricular

fibrillation and sudden cardiac death.

It is an unstable rhythm.

CAUSES:

? MI, ischemia, CAD

? Valvular heart disease

? HF, Electrolyte imbalance

SYMPTOMS

? Palpitations

? chest pain

? Dyspnea

? light headedness

? cardiac arrest

MANAGEMENT:

? anti arrhythmics

? beta blockers

?Catheter ablation

? Cardioversion
