Venice Design Week design paths 2022: focus on music and lights
The preparations for the new edition of Venice Design Week enter its second phase, and for the end of March we wish to present some of our traditional and new paths, adding our calls to action.
Paths at Venice Design Week can be described in two ways:
1- literally: we create a walking path through Venice that visitors can follow on our maps according to their interests
2 - thematically: we group our exhibitions by macro themes and aim to target specific aspects of design and productivity
By vocation, Venice becomes our integrated exhibitors’ stand, and every year we strive to find the best collaborations and highlight the sides of design that integrate also with arts.
According to this spirit, our collaboration with the Music Museum is a clear example of integration with the Venetian context, the ambition to promote new design, and our sensitivity towards the arts.
Music and design

Venice Design Week, and Museo Della Musica Di Venezia collezione M° Artemio Versari, Venetian Music Museum collection M° Artemio Versari, cowork to offer the opportunity to follow a narration of the history of musical instruments’ design.?
From ancient lutherie to modern electric instrument, our ambition is to allow our visitors to watch, hear, and follow the art of music through the construction of its tools.
From Stradivarius violins to the most recent contemporary eclectic instruments, Venice Design Weeks wants to honour an art that has one of the most symbolic and inclusive values for humanity.
Particularly string instruments like electrically amplified violins, as they developed from the 1920 to the 1990 to the most recent evolution.
We are currently looking for designers and brands who wish to show their latest creations in this section of design: they will be displayed inside the museum.
Designers who find themselves in this sector are welcome to follow this link and present their projects:

Light installations
The one dedicated to lights and light installations is a returning path in Venice.
Lights and light installations are a fundamental element of design, and our destinations in the city have remarkable settings to make them pop and integrate in captivating ways.?
This particular segment of design is so important, that Venice Design Week has had its own light competitions, the latest one in 2020.

This traditional and well known path offers the opportunity to exhibit in some of Venice’s most iconic locations, no limits given to interior or exterior choices.?
Every year the destinations vary, but the common element is our meticulous attention into finding the most refined and accurate spaces for the design to flourish and stand out.
The following pictures show some of 2021’s destinations and works for the lights and light installations path.

Oftentimes works that develop chromatic harmony, elegant sense of luminosity, perspective, geometry, fusion, and transparency as technical instruments are best integrated in the Venetian environments, and given the 2022 theme is “Origins”, a particular attention on the interpretation of the theme is fundamental when presenting a project.
A call for exhibition is open on our website, if you are a designer working with lights and light installations and wish to show your creations in a Venetian unique environment, you are welcome to present your project at the following link:
