While often used interchangeably, "vendor" and "supplier" have distinct meanings:
?Vendor
1. A vendor is typically a company or individual that sells products or services directly to customers.
2. Vendors often provide a specific product or service, and the customer has direct contact with them.
3. Examples: food vendors, software vendors, or event vendors.
?Supplier
1. A supplier is a company or individual that provides goods or services to another business, often as part of a larger supply chain.
2. Suppliers typically provide raw materials, components, or services that are used to create a final product or deliver a service.
3. Examples: manufacturing suppliers, logistics suppliers, or IT suppliers.
?Key differences:
1. Direct vs. indirect sales: Vendors sell directly to customers, while suppliers sell to businesses.
2. Product/service scope: Vendors provide a specific product or service, while suppliers provide goods or services that are part of a larger supply chain.
3. Customer interaction: Vendors often interact directly with customers, while suppliers typically interact with businesses.
?While the distinction between vendor and supplier can be subtle, understanding the differences can help clarify business relationships and communication.
