A new study has found that meat ingestion is bad. Really bad. As in, awful. In fact, the study shows meat to be not just toxic, but downright lethal in short order.
More impressively, the study has actually found the genes that make meat toxic. So, this is a genetic study. Wow.
More impressively still, the paper is, like, totally filled with extremely arcane abbreviations. And, there are a whole bunch of really fancy words that almost nobody understands. Totally impressive. Awesome.
Oh, by the way- the study was in giant pandas.
As for the genes, they are, apparently, the genes that make giant pandas, well…giant pandas. We have known all along that giant pandas are adapted to eat bamboo. It does stand to reason that giant panda genes would be, as well. These are those genes.
But still, consider the implications! Take away their bamboo, give them baloney- and, catastrophe. Ergo, meat is highly toxic. Today. (April Fool’s Day.) And genes make it so!
Yes, of course: this is utter rubbish. Yes, I made it all up.
But…the actual dietary “news” du jour? Not one wit better.
Bon appétit!

P.S.- I consulted with several giant pandas about the veracity of this column, but they just kept chewing. Whatever...
