Mark Robinson sues CNN

The Guardian : Mark Robinson, the GOP candidate for NC Governor, is suing CNN for defamation -- they published an article detailed explicit comments he allegedly made on a porn site. Several of those comments were racist or homophobic -- he allegedly wrote things like “I'm a Black NAZI” and that he wished slavery were still legal so he could “buy a few”.

Star Tribune : Robinson, who is also the current Lieutenant Governor of NC, labeled CNN's report as a baseless political attack -- he says he did not author the posts, and that CNN engaged in a “high tech lynching”.

NewsObserver.com : This comes as Robinson's campaign is faltering amid mass staff resignations -- most of his campaign staff have resigned, and about half of his official staff too.

Al Jazeera : Many GOP figures, including Donald Trump, distanced themselves from Robinson after the report. Robinson is currently trailing his Democratic opponent by double digits.

This Redditor says the suit is obviously a sham -- there's no way Robinson wants to go through the discovery process, he's just doing this to give him a shot on election day. Odds are, he just quietly drops this in a few weeks. Boo!

Vegas bedbug invasion

Casino.org : Bedbugs were found in 4 luxury Las Vegas hotels, causing alarm over guest safety and pest control measures -- the hotels were the Bellagio, Cosmopolitan, Resorts World, and Hilton Grand Vacation Club.

SF Gate says it's a minor issue: Only a few rooms in these huge hotels had bedbugs, and strict controls are ongoing.

But Newser.com argues that the hotels showed negligence -- guests faced harmful health effects and scarring from bites.

Yahoo.com emphasizes the broader impact, saying high-profile hotels facing bedbug problems could suffer reputational damage -- they'd do well to keep bugs out!
