It’s the end of Veganuary 2024 – but it’s just the beginning of an exciting year for the Vegan Trademark! This year marked the 10th anniversary for Veganuary, starting from a grassroots campaign it has now become a highlight in the vegan industry’s retail year – and with the excitement around vegan products continuing this year it doesn’t look like it’s slowing down any time soon. We’ve covered some of the innovative new products launched by our Vegan Trademark holders this month on our LinkedIn – and you can catch up on some of these in our News section below.

As we move into February we are reminded that veganism is not just for January – and long-term commitment can have a real positive impact on our society. A new analysis shows that if the UK public switched to vegan diets it could save the NHS £6.7 billion per year. The uptake of vegan diets has increased dramatically in recent years, with those making the switch citing various reasons, including perceived health benefits, reduced environmental impact, and improved animal welfare. The vegan industry is continuing to lead the way at making veganism more accessible to everyone and with the Vegan Trademark certification shoppers can make the change to buying vegan products with ease.

The Vegan Trademark Partners with Provenance

We are thrilled to announce our new partner, Provenance.

Provenance's platform enables businesses to validate and amplify sustainability claims throughout the customer journey, reducing the risk of greenwashing and enhancing brand value. With a presence in over 16 markets worldwide and partnering with more than 200 leading CPG businesses, Provenance is setting a new global standard in facilitating conscious consumer choices.

Businesses working with Provenance can make 125+ social and environmental claims (known as Proof Points) via the Provenance Framework, an open-source rulebook for communicating impact.

The Vegan Trademark has partnered with Provenance to help shoppers make more sustainable choices with confidence. Their platform allows e-commerce products with the Vegan Trademark to share clickable transparent information about the Vegan Trademark standards at the point of sale.

Our partnership is a response to the ever-growing demand for transparent and trustworthy sustainability information. Provenance research found that nearly half (41%) of today’s shoppers consider independently-verified sustainability information to be “very trustworthy”, and look to the likes of the Vegan Trademark to guide purchasing decisions shaped by facts, not greenwash.

Vegan Trademark Events?

Next month we will be at European Beauty Week, 11-14 February at the AC Barcelona alongside our partner, RangeMe. Vegan Trademark team members Nina and Jane will be delivering a round table titled ‘The Rise of Vegan Cosmetics: Capturing the Growing Market’, full of fascinating insights into the growing vegan cosmetics industry and the value of third-party certification.

In March (25-27) we will be attending IFE at Excel London, where we’ll be exhibiting at stand 1381 with treats from a variety of our Vegan Trademark holders to give away. We’ll also be sharing specialist 1-2-1 advice in the Certification Clinic at stand 381M where you can ask us anything about certifying your products with the Vegan Trademark.

Looking further forward into the year, Food & Drink Expo is back at the NEC Birmingham from 29 April – 01 May 2024! Buyers and decision makers across the food and drink industry are invited to come along and uncover the hottest trends, the latest product launches and the industry’s vision for the future.

Supported by The Vegan Society, explore the latest innovation in their Plant-Based zone, dedicated to vegan and plant-based products including meat alternatives, snacks, drinks, ingredients and everything plant! See the likes of Glebe Farm and Suma Wholefoods exhibiting in this zone.
