Flying Sikh - The Brand Ambassador for Employee Wellbeing
Let’s cut right to the…. Race :)
The movie opens at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. Milkha Singh, arguably the fastest athlete in the world, was competing in the 400m race. When the race starts, the coach cheers (“Bhaag Milkha, Bhaag!”), which he used to motivate Milkha, turns out to be a horrible trigger to his traumatic past, which affects his performance and he ends up in 4th place.?
Throughout the entire movie, we see him working hard to achieve his goals i.e. medals and accolades but in that particular scene, we also understand the importance of one additional factor: mental well-being. It is not just about physical health or being ready, being mentally fit is as important as physical care.
So, no prizes for guessing what this issue’s takeaway is. Wellbeing.?
Many organizations have included mental health as a primary objective in their strategies to create a positive and productive work culture. To promote holistic development, emphasis has been laid on aspects like communication, upskilling and social activities as well.
Some of the activities that organizations take for employee well-being include implementing a culture with employee recognition at its core. Organizations today use features like surveys and mood indexes to have a consistent feedback process in place to react quickly to employee needs.?

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) are becoming increasingly important for organizations as a strategic economic gain and a guiding component of workplace culture. It is more than policies, programs, or headcounts. An inclusive workplace culture will not only help you attract a diverse set of talent, but it will also help you retain the diverse talent you initially attracted.
Several studies have found that organizations that practice diversity, equity, and inclusion outperform those that stick to the status quo. These businesses benefit from increased productivity, improved employee retention, and an overall boost in morale. Diverse teams approach a problem from various angles. Team members are confronted with opposing and often surprising points of view that they must evaluate. A study by the Technical University of Munich found a positive relationship between management diversity and innovation – that is, they earn more revenue from new products and services.
Increased focus on DEI has always been beneficial and has to be implemented and consistently monitored to see results. What are your thoughts?
