Family Councils Advocate: Be the change you want to see. Join the Long-Term Care Conversation for all Residents in Care.
Our VCAFC Pamphlet is now out. Share it widely with all long-term care homes. All long-term care homes in BC now have the support of our provincial government to engage with residents and their families, friends or representatives to deepen relationships and discuss matters that can lead to real improvement within the care home and, potentially, the long-term care system.
Our Vancouver Coastal Association of Family Councils is supporting long-term care homes (LTCHs) in the VCH one by one. We seek to connect with LTC leaders to begin the discussion of how resident and family councils is an easy and proactive way to gain continuous feedback for quality improvement purposes; how these councils can help triage perceived issues before they become problems for administration; and how these councils provide a sense of community and belonging to those who live and visit there.
