How can you be sure that you are getting the quality time your project deserves, to bring any project to a successful completion requires a dedicated person managing it full time, only in exceptional circumstances can a project be managed on a part time basis.
What is a percentage of someone’s time ? 20% or 50%, if so what is 20% is it 1 day a week? or 1 hour a day for a week, or 50% is it Sunday to Tuesday 12.00pm or is 4 hours a day through the week ? in which case which 4 hours, how do you sell the remaining portion of someone’s time, how can you be sure that you will get the time when your project needs it ?
As we know the only real way to manage something correctly is to be dedicated to it and give the project / task the time / attention it requires to ensure its delivered on time / in budget / safely.
If a project does not engage a full time person to manage it, how can you be sure that your project is being managed, the only way is to develop a detailed list of activities (activity based time management) should be developed, agreed too and assigned to the time period that has been procured, this will ensure that the project is getting the important activities completed as and when required.
It also has to be said in the same respect deploying to many resources can also have a detrimental effect on the delivery of your project, the morale to this story is
" Value for Money" The right resource for The right price
