VAROLASTIC? highly flexible flange couplings with progressive torsional stiffness
VAROLASTIC F is a progressive flange coupling characterised by its variable torsional stiffness. The non-linear roller coupling in version F is available as standard for compatible flywheel connections and a range of hub connections. Failure protection against slippage is only available for type FD. The elastomers allow a permanent installation space temperature of 120°C and a short-term temperature of up to 150°C.
VAROLASTIC F is a particularly good choice for variable speed main drives (e.g. in combination with gearboxes) or wherever a robust coupling capable of withstanding overloads is required. Since the torsional stiffness can be optimally adapted to the respective application, VAROLASTIC? also serves the trend towards component standardisation via the sizes and innovation cycles in the customer portfolio.
VAROLASTIC FD is a progressive flange coupling characterised by its variable torsional stiffness. In the real operating range, this characteristic always provides an optimum torsional vibration condition: It is particularly torsionally soft at low load torques and increases in torsional rigidity as the load increases to ensure full power transmission. The progressive torsional stiffness curve is achieved by means of special elastomer rollers which are precisely guided and loaded in a convex-concave contour guide. The synthetic elastomers of VAROLASTIC FD allow a maximum operating temperature of 120 °C permanently and up to 150 °C for short periods. Type FD is a particularly good choice for main drives susceptible to torsional vibrations.
VAROLASTIC FD is available as standard as type FD with an anti-rotation device as well as for compatible flywheel connections and a number of hub connections. Unlike conventional solutions, this load point is dimensioned so that the elastomer rollers are protected against shearing or breakage while the coupling is still fully operational.
