Vanuatu is a small country that needs global assistance

Many people in many parts of the world, well-intentioned people have been raising funds and collecting goods to support the recovery efforts in Vanuatu, further to the passage of Cyclone Pam. And it is true that every little helps.
BUT, the Flash Appeal which was funded at $30million dollars and which is focused on a 3 month response to ensure that 160,000 (more than half of the country's population) people receive clean water, shelter and food has been funded to 17% so far.
More is needed, and needed now. If you can donate to the Red Cross or UNICEF, please do. If you have already done so, thank you and you can help by lobbying your government to support the Flash Appeal.
If you work for a media organisation, please do whatever you can to get this issue as much exposure as possible.

9 å¹´Many of my ni-Van and ex-pat friends across the islands were seriously affected by PAM. Thankfully things appear to be on the road to recovery now, thanks to the great work being done by locals, UNICEF, the Red Cross and others.
