Cargo ships crash into bridges.
Shootings invade our “safe” schools.
And as if this weren’t enough, it’s an election year.
This kind of overwhelming negativity spirals us downward, creating despairing attitudes and dismal spirits.
It affects your work, making you less productive
You miss sales goals.
You disregard project deadlines
?Your work sucks.
?Your culture wanders aimlessly as your mind chases 24/7 news cycles down the rabbit hole into darkness.
?How do you reverse course and get back on track with a positive work culture
Here are 3 Positive Ways to Deal with the Negative World:?

?Small Hinge 5: Write in your Gratitude Diary
?Starting your workday swinging open big doors of culture transformation through small hinge actions sets you up for a great ending to your day. Record those in your Gratitude Diary.
?For decades, I’ve mentor coached my clients to keep such a diary. So, just what is a Gratitude Diary?
?Choose your favorite medium. Mine is a three-ring binder filled with paper and a pen. Others use Notepad, Word, Evernote or some other app or program.
?Here’s what you do: write down/type in three positive experiences from your workday.
?Something like, “Grateful to sign a six-figure contract with a [new client name here] today.” Or, “Grateful to make an offer that was accepted by [top talent name here] today.” Or, “Grateful to leave off the TV news this morning, read a positive chapter from Small Hinges Swing Big Doors, listen to Lovely Day Radio on Pandora while I got ready, and visualize best outcomes to my appointments.”
?My clients and I find this act is best done at bedtime. You sleep more restfully when you do your Gratitude Diary instead of watching the late news. Rather than watching a fire burn or somebody say something like, “Yea, my daughter called me and said there was a shooting at the Walmart,” you seed positive, personal experiences from your day. Watch the news before bedtime and your nightmare features you running from gunfire at the Walmart.
?Do One Thing (DOT): Write in your Gratitude Diary at bedtime.
