VANGOGO Set to Release New Single, "Party All The Time"

Detroit/Orlando-based band VANGOGO is thrilled to announce the release of their newest single, “Party All The Time,” a modern recreation of the Eddie Murphy cult classic originally released in 1985. The song will hit all major streaming sites at midnight on November 10th, 2023.

Eddie Murphy's recording and release of the song were the result of a $100,000 bet made between Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor, wagering on whether Murphy had singing talent or not. Murphy collaborated with Rick James, and the song came to life in Rick James' studio in Buffalo, New York. The song reached #2 on the Billboard charts and proved that Murphy was more than just an actor and a comedian. The song was reintroduced to a new generation of listeners by way of the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and remains a favorite among Eddie’s fans.

VANGOGO is composed of Nathan Mackinder (Vocals/Guitar), Jason Schaller (Lead Guitar/Backing Vocals), Paxton Olney (Bass), and Jonah Brockman (Drums/Backing Vocals/Keys).

VANGOGO presents a dark, sexy twist on this 80s masterpiece while maintaining its danceability and the fusion of familiar musical nods to Michael Jackson’s "Billie Jean." International recording artist and flutist Carrie Wiesinger introduces the signature melody at the start of the song and continues to bring her warm, welcoming tone to the mix as the song progresses. (Wiesinger is married to guitarist, Schaller.) Brockman, a multi-instrumentalist, added synthesized strings and glockenspiel to set the mood for the song’s winding tale of infidelity. The song intensifies over the course of its 3 minutes and 43 seconds journey and ends with a timeless quote from the “King of Punk-Funk,” Rick James himself.

Schaller says, "When Nate first sent the song to the band, it was a recording of him with his acoustic guitar, and we didn’t know what to think.” He continues, “Before the song got to the chorus, I didn’t recognize that it was a cover. Nate was going through a bad breakup at the time, and I honestly thought it was him using a clever way with words to express his emotions. However, Nate had actually identified a way to bring a legendary song back to life.”

What happened next was magic. Mackinder and Brockman worked from Brockman’s home studio to develop the theme. Once that happened, the band went to Pearl Sound Studios to work with Super Producer Chuck Alkazian (KISS, Asking Alexandria, Eminem) and bring “Party All The Time” back.

Mackinder remarked, “I’m really happy with the way everything came together. Everyone brought their creative energy to the final production, and I am excited to see where this takes all of us.”

VANGOGO plans to bring “Party All The Time” to radio, as it did with its last four singles: “Both of Us,” “Big Mistake,” “Watch it Burn,” and “Get Up To You.”

With their Detroit roots, the band has included a special tribute to one of Detroit’s most recognizable brands, Shinola , by the recreation of the original album art with a VANGOGO twist. There’s a Shinola Hotel on the wrist of the skeleton, counting the moments to last call. In addition, the band celebrated the completion of their first record in a suite at the Shinola Hotel, which included a photo shoot in the alley behind the building.

VANGOGO is endorsed by GHS Strings and Reverend Guitars . Also, catch VANGOGO live in Sanford, Florida, at the West End Trading Co. on Saturday, November 11th, and just north of Detroit at the Diesel Concert Lounge on Friday, December 15th.
