The Vanderbilt Career Center is now accepting applications for three upcoming treks. The treks will occur in Houston, Texas, and New York City, New York during Spring Break.?
Assistant Director of Immersive Experiences and Treks, Destiny (Izaguirre) Rumble ,?cited previous successes as the driving force behind the expansion of trek offerings. ?
"We’ve done treks before," she stated. "It generated a lot of interest, and we’ve had success with these treks leading to other professional opportunities for the students."?
Expansions to the treks have seen ventures into new cities and industries. A recent trek last semester took 16 Vanderbilt students to Atlanta to explore transportation, supply chain, and related sectors.?

Rumble emphasized the immersive nature of these experiences, highlighting the opportunity for students to gain firsthand insights into various industries. ?
"It’s a great chance to see what it is actually like to work in these industries and in these cities," she said. "We go to actual offices and provide students the chance to ask employees questions."?
In Houston, students participating in the Energy and Tech Trek will visit prominent companies including Microsoft and the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).?
In New York City, participants in the Business and Finance Trek will engage with employers such as Wells Fargo Corporate & Investment Banking , 高盛 , and AlphaSights . Meanwhile, those on the Fashion and Beauty Trek will have access to the offices of industry giants like 酩悦·轩尼诗-路易·威登集团 , Bloomingdale's , and 欧莱雅 .?
Vanderbilt’s Career Advancement and Engagement division has played a pivotal role in the planning of these treks. Vanderbilt University hubs – physical offices with full-time employees –?in Houston and New York City established connections with top employers in those cities. This led to Vanderbilt students being invited to visit offices and network.
"They (CAE and the hub offices) have been instrumental in getting us access to some top employers in cities outside of Nashville," Rumble said.?
