Values vs Money

Hey Diverse Community ??

The picture above is part of my Values, a solid friendship of 20+ years. These two wonderful women have no idea what I do for work but have always supported my journey.

I was recently asked, do I want to make money or do I want to change the world?

A question entrepreneurs have to answer often and get comfortable with the answer.

If you're a tech entrepreneur the 'right way' to do this would be to make your money first and then invest that into changing the world, but my frustrations with the recruitment market weighed too much.

So my vision of driving around in a Lambo and owning a beachfront house in Portrush (IYKYK) has to wait a while, because I chose to change the world (without money) ??

Toby at the Beach (we both wish to retire here)

I've often spoken about DiverseTalent.ai origin story, how during the pandemic I was searching for a job and just found it incredibly frustrating scrolling through job boards, company websites and LinkedIn trying to find employers that showcased their commitment to my community.

Whilst a big Pride Flag????? on a company logo would've been nice to see, it was September so Pride month was over and the internal marketing teams had no reason to show this.

But in seriousness, what I was really looking for where highlights of charity partnerships, accreditations and employee networks.

The big idea:

DiverseTalent.ai a marketplace of inclusive employers showcasing their values, commitments and accreditations and in turn, job seekers could select which ones match their values and send an application

Where we are:

An enterprise-level hiring platform with tools for both employers and job seekers to remove bias, keep compliant, and support by ethically built AI, stealing a line from Equitas but we've built Faster, Fairer Hiring.

Our challenges:

We need more employers. Simple. We've 5000+ job seekers actively using the platform for their career needs, the tech is great! But we didn't foresee the challenges rising for Diversity Champions and Recruiters, a little economic crash and a backlash of negativity towards Diversity & Inclusion almost daily in the media and powered by politicians and right-wingers.

Okay, back to Pride?????

So I'm (again) doing something I love, changing the world and not making any money ??
