At a recent event hosted by Chartered Management Institute .I was fortunate enough to listen to former Marine Nick O'Sullivan MBE CMgr CCMI taking about the above subject.
It took me back to my dissertation days when the subject of Frederick Hertzberg's two factor model (1959) was used a a great template to follow for the above subject.
Combining what motivates a team plus taking the demotivating factors and turning them into Hygiene factors is a great model to ensure a consistent and fair leadership approach.
Of course we have all encountered similar examples, Maslow (as seen in the diagram) also draws some similar theories a about what drives us a teams and individually.
My over-riding thought was how relevant these theories are today given how long ago there were first published.
Sometimes looking back and previous lessons is a great way to help shape our future.
Thanks to the Chartered Management Institute and to Nick O'Sullivan MBE CMgr CCMI for a thoroughly interesting and engaging session.
