Valued vs. Appreciated

Are you a valued or appreciated employee? If you are a leader, do your employees or staff feel valued or appreciated? To me, there is a BIG difference. When you are valued, you are an asset to the company. When you are valued, you are a key part of the success of the company. When you are valued, you are properly compensated for what you bring to the organization. When you are valued, YOU KNOW IT!
When you are appreciated, the organization believes you bring something to the table, but you don't have a seat at the table. When you are appreciated, the organization sees value in what you do, but they don't VALUE you. When you are appreciated, you play a role, but you are not a star. When you are appreciated, leaders are happy you are on the team, but they don't feel they NEED YOU.
If you work for a business, ask yourself, am I valued or appreciated? Why do they (my bosses) think or feel that way? Are they right? If you answered the question with appreciated, what can you do to change their opinion? Are you dedicated? Are you an asset? Are you truly loyal? Do you make the company better? Do you go above and beyond? Do you manage your time wisely? If not, you can change NOW! Make yourself a valuable asset that makes your company better every day.
If you are a company leader, then you should VALUE your employees or someone else will take them away or they will leave on their own. Great companies have valued employees. Long lasting companies find a way to retain their valued employees. Companies that fail to keep valued employees will one day file for bankruptcy. Don't fail to act. Don't fail to show your employees VALUE, or you will truly fail your company in the long run.

8 年Thanks so much for posting this. I did a similar post sometime last year and ran into a conflict with someone because of it. I'm glad to see that someone else understands. If you would like for me to share what I wrote, let me know.
