VALUE YOUR MOST IMPORTANT RELATIONSHIP
The year we’re leaving behind was enlightening, challenging and horrendous.?Hard to believe it was all three.?What got us through it and allowed us to take away the gifts and work through the wounds, was our relationship.?On special occasions and important milestones, Arleah and I write our thoughts and feelings about our relationship, and share them with each other.?It helps us pause and take a break from the daily insanity and focus on what’s really important – our relationship.?The following are what we wrote and shared with each other, to prepare for the coming?year; and hopefully to be of value to other relationships:
?Arleah to Morrie:
?This is not what I had in mind when I declared that I wanted to grow old together.I was thinking of more adventures, not that you would have to help me cross the street or open jars for me because I am unable to do those simple tasks.
?So this is a letter of gratitude for all the amazing years we have had and thetravels all over the world, plus the breadth and depth of this amazing relationship. As I look back over 40+ years, I think of the trials and sad times we have shared along the way, besides all the thrills and laughter, what a joy to be your partner.
?t seems fitting that as we travel towards our inevitable ends that we are still risking the bank and have included the two rascals – Jack and Jill – just because we needed them.
?I love you.?More than yesterday, less than tomorrow.
?Morrie to Arleah:
?You’ve enriched my life more than you can imagine.?Your curiosity and delightIn the world, has made me love you more.
