We are 11! October marks our 11th anniversary as an organization that was created to make gender inclusion actionable for the private sector. Since our inception in 2012, we've been on a mission to harness the power of business and finance to drive real change in the world of gender equality and social inclusion.

Back then, we recognized the untapped potential of the private sector as a catalyst for transformation. We knew that to make a difference, we needed to provide practical, tailor-made solutions for businesses, finance, and entrepreneurship ecosystems.?At the time, there was a prevalent notion that gender issues were not within the direct purview of these institutions. But we saw it differently, and we were determined to make gender inclusion not just relevant but actionable for them.

In our pursuit of this ambitious goal, we became pioneers in some ways. First and foremost, we offered uniquely practical pathways and tools, as the way to turn high aspirations into concrete action. Secondly, we broke down the silos that separated gender expertise from business and finance acumen, creating a dynamic fusion of knowledge to empower private sector professionals. Lastly, our spirit of collaboration set us apart, as we joined hands with diverse voices to champion our shared goal of gender equality.

Over the coming decade, we aim to mobilize businesses, investors, and financial institutions to create opportunities and better conditions for 10 million women in all their diversity. These targets embody our commitment to reshaping the system and making tangible strides toward gender equality and social inclusion.

As we step into another year, we’re not only proud of our past accomplishments but even more excited about the journey ahead. We’ve developed simpler entry points and hands-on solutions for over 500 businesses, investors, and entrepreneurs, placing their unique needs, challenges, and priorities at the forefront. Our team, a globally diverse and locally-embedded group of top-tier experts, is poised for action like never before.? Join us and witness the dominant emotions that drive our passionate team in the video below. Together, we’ll continue to transform the landscape of gender inclusion, one milestone at a time!

Why is the care economy attracting attention from impact investors and other funders alike worldwide? Here’s a bit of background:

  • Across Asia and the Pacific, women perform 80% of unpaid care work
  • The unpaid care work done by women is more than four times the unpaid care work done by men
  • Meanwhile, the market size and investment potential of the care sector is growing
  • It is estimated that by 2050, the number of people aged 60 and older in Asia and the Pacific will more than double to reach 1.3 billion 3
  • And rising disposable income is fuelling market growth for both eldercare and childcare

This has the potential to improve gender inclusion. Care work - whether child care, elder care or related areas - is gendered, with a disproportionate burden falling on women. Investing in the care economy could generate approximately 300 million jobs by 2035, of which 78% would be jobs for women and 84% would be in formal employment.?

How can investors and market builders drive investments to the care economy? We’ve got you covered!?
