Value vs Followers
To all my creatives, influencers, 'wantrepreneurs' lol
Whatever we're calling ourselves these days
The aim is to provide VALUE which = INFLUENCE
Not 'get followers'
If you aim for providing VALUE which = influence you will survive in any environment. Not just online ??
In a day & age where we can often get caught up in the numbers (notifications, likes, comments, followers, etc.) you can easily get caught in the trap of thinking that's what it's all its about
But you should ask yourself, when someone watches a video, sees an image or a tweet, what did they get from it?
Because focusing on what you can give rather than what you can gain will lead you to ask more creative & challenging questions of yourself. Leading to more quality
By you raising your standards you will end up providing more value and that will lead to you having more influence.
Now don't get it twisted, I know this is easier said than done, because social media inherently makes you focus on the numbers and the 'followers'
So you have to put in barriers to prevent you from becoming numbers focused instead of value focused.
Tips:
1. Focus on who is engaged rather than who isn't - the more time you spend improving the quality of the product for those who are watching, the more loyal they become
2. Engage with the audience you already have. You will learn a lot about how you can improve your content by listening to who is engaged because they'll have tips & feedback on your work. Again, this also improves loyalty because they see you value them & their ideas
3. Do real life things, speak to people face to face, go to events (plug your work whilst there), have meetings. Take the focus off the keyboards for a bit and get real. It gives perspective, births new ideas and helps make your brand real
4. Be honest/vulnerable. People gravitate towards what is authentic, i've experienced this 1st hand by trying to use more personal & real life examples in my motivational videos. It's a lot more effective when it's coming from something you've experienced rather than a theory
5. Probably the most important. STOP COMPARING YOURSELF!
Lol I had to shout at you, because these platforms are built to make you compare yourself. Don't do it, I could go into a million reasons why but go watch one of my videos for that
'Comparison is the theif of joy'
And finally.. don't ever be afraid to plug your work!
