RAKESH REDDY, REGIONAL DIRECTOR, MIDDLE EAST & AFRICA, CLOUD4C EXPLAINS HOW THE MANAGED SERVICE PROVIDER MIGRATED A LEADING MANUFACTURER’S LEGACY INFRASTRUCTURE TO THE CLOUD IN A FAST-PACED AND TRANSPARENT MANNER, ENSURING TOTAL DATA SECURITY AND HIGH AVAILABILITY THROUGHOUT.
A leading distributor of disposable food packaging sought to upgrade its hosting capabilities to a secure, efficient data center in the cloud. After realizing that its legacy on premise infrastructure posed a risk to data security, the customer wanted to find a suitable partner to assist in a migration that was fast-paced, transparent and secure, resulting in zero data loss.
During an attempt to scale the business, it became clear to the customer that the need to make the transition was becoming more prevalent than ever. Selecting Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its hyperscaler, the team then sought the help of leading managed service provider, Cloud4C, to proceed with the migration. The customer worked with AWS partner Cloud4C on the assessment and migration of SAP workloads from an on-premises data center to the AWS facility in Bahrain, with disaster recovery managed by AWS in Ireland.
A pioneer in providing specialized cloud solutions to key industry verticals, including manufacturing, banking, and government, Cloud4C offered integrated security and compliance services to address the customer’s needs.

After conducting an in-depth client environment assessment, Cloud4C’s team of experts identified a scope of migration that covered all business use cases and feasibility studies. “We then proceeded with migrating the customer’s SAP workloads from the on-premise data center to a hyperscaler of choice - in this case, AWS. The customer selected AWS as its cloud provider because of its superior responsiveness, speed, and performance, in addition to its reputation, reliability, and scalability,” said Rakesh Reddy, Regional Director, Middle East & Africa, Cloud4C. “The AWS Well Architected Framework was selected as a cost-effective solution for the customer’s needs, namely because it is hosted locally in the Middle East and offered high availability.”
Cloud4C seamlessly migrated customer workloads and implemented a well-architected framework incorporating high availability and disaster recovery. Through leveraging the team’s infrastructure, application and database capabilities, a “hassle-free and safe” migration strategy was created and executed with ease. “This enabled us to ensure improved consistency, repeatability and quality of application services, in addition to reducing the risk of human errors during the process,” he added.
In addition to the transfer of SAP workloads, Cloud4C also carried out the migration and modernization of the remaining workloads. “We created a road map for modernizing the application and database on containers and RDS,” said Reddy. “Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) for the entire migration was also put in place so that we could ensure zero data loss during the process.”
Post-implementation, the customer has enjoyed a range of benefits since upgrading its infrastructure. Nearly all (99.95%) stakeholders have experienced better uptime while using the application, in addition to enjoying 100% visibility into its cloud environment. Operational and maintenance costs have seen a 25% reduction since the migration, while the response time to security-related events has been reduced significantly - from days to less than 2 hours.
“Crucially, the team has seen zero threats to its application and data, in addition to achieving 100% compliance with regards to data residency,” added Reddy.
