ZIA UL MAZAFARY, GENERAL MANAGER, EIS MIDDLE EAST, EXPLAINS, HOW THEY PRIORITIZED EFFICIENT SOLUTION ENGINEERING AND STRONG COLLABORATIVE RELATIONSHIPS TO DELIVER ENHANCED COMPUTING POWER FOR A LARGE, REGIONAL DEVELOPER.

A large regional developer sought to upgrade its infra- structure and computing power with zero downtime to day-to-day operations. During the evaluation process, the developer identified vSAN compatibility as a critical requirement, and opted for HPE servers to deliver the necessary processing and storage resources.

With expectations set, they approached EIS, the Dubai based systems integrator, to assist with the deployment. EIS is a specialized service-oriented systems integrator, bringing expertise across the board from traditional IT to analytics, cybersecurity and Big Data.

“The customer has many business units operating under one roof when it comes to their ERP and applications for individual units. An increased number of users creates reduced access, increased latency and decreased availability. This means it is time to increase the computing power,” explained Zia ul Mazafary, General Manager, EIS Middle East. “We put forward the HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 Server to address the requirements, due to its open standards and compatibility with the customer’s virtualization needs.”

No proof of concept was needed to convince the customer that this was the solution for them, as they were already a HPE customer and boasted a long-standing relationship with EIS.

“Our existing relationshipwith the developer – knowing their systems and their current infrastructure, gave us the edge when it came to this project,”explained Mazafary. “We are extremely well-versed in their IT operations, right from maintaining their network and IT standards to their Wi-Fi at major locations. I believe this factor helped in ensuring a smooth project kick-off, as it bypassedany potential teething problems that usually happens at the start when dealing with someone new. This also helped the customer, since they knew uscand had experienced our capabilities in the past.”

The EIS team did not face any challenges, thanks to efficient planning and collaboration. “The system has been engineered and designed very well, with all three stakeholders involved in the process - the customer, the vendor and the partner. An open collaboration ensured there were no challenges during deployment and the customer was highly satisfied.”

The team has integrated the solution’s 12 appliances with the customer’s existing infrastructure. The customer saw a marked improvement in user experience across the board– from ensuring business continuity and access to their systems, to enhanced reliability and speed of applications.

“Throughout the project, ensuring business continuity has been expressed as a critical requirement due to the developer’s customers, corporates, internal employees and partners all needing access to systems,” explained Mazafary. “Ultimately, the end user experience was significantly improved thanks to the faster processor, reduced latency and reliability of the system.”
