The Value of Purging

Purge--cleanse, rid, remove, throw away, shred...you get the picture.
Purge: Keep – Toss – Donate
A few years ago I decided to purge my closet. I set some parameters, but the main thing was to "rid" my closet of clothes that just didn't work for me anymore. I was determined to not let the closet overrun again by removing a garment when a new one came in. I did ok for a while but there has been some creep back.
Purge:
Keep – Toss – Donate
Guess what? I'm doing it again. I am wearing everything in my closet. When I take it off, it does not go back in. It goes in a keep, give-away or throw-away bin. So if you see me with a strange looking ensemble, I'm getting down to the wire.

Take this same approach to your office, your desk or even your automobile. Are there papers, magazines, and books that you say you are going to read again or use again... one day. Well if the article is over 3 years old, the book is over 20 years (unless it’s a collector’s item) you are not likely to read it; if the magazine cover with Michelle Obama is not framed yet, it's not likely to be. So strip the cover off, frame it, and let the magazine go....3 fingers pointing back at me.
Professional organizers will remind you that purging cleanses your environment and it also clears your mind so that your creative juices can flow.
So go ahead, start purging. Clear your environment, clear your mind. Eradicate anything that is cluttering your space and your thoughts; allow room for creativity, peace and joy!
Make space for growth, change and positivity. Who knows, you might come out with a new look or a new outlook.
