Value is not a Popularity Contest

Many believe that value is only when a person is at their best. That it is when we are at our most productive, or when we are seen as the one that is popular or in favor at a particular moment in time.
This is not true.
As long as a person knows their internal identity, what they stand for, and what they truly believe in, their value is still there. No matter if they are popular, or they do (or don't) walk in the correct circles, or hang out with the "in crowd" at that moment, they still have value.
I may be popular today and tomorrow, no one shall remember my name or what I stood for. Yet I am still the same person. My values are still the same, my core beliefs are the same, I still have the same skills and yet I may have added some additional skills.
This is why it is necessary to know who you are, what you stand for, and invest in your own development. By knowing who you are, you have a depth of confidence in your abilities. By knowing what you stand for, you know what the direction of your life is going to be. By growing your skills, you will be able to overcome the challenges that lay in wait.
Failing to understand your internal values will cause you to be unsure of your abilities, shaken when adversity stands on your life's path, and seeing shadows in all directions.
Let's all focus on ourselves in this coming week.
Until next time,
