The Value of Perpetuation!

I recently read an article published by a former co-worker and Air Force recruiter
on April 7, 2015, which highlighted the importance of perpetuation.
But what is the correlation for transitioning members?

One of the most important resources a separating or retiring military member
can make when approaching that 24-month out timeframe, is to start building up
a professional network.

One thing that is driven home to us in recruiting school, is the importance of
always following up the closing statement with the perpetuation statement. If you
feel that I provided a valuable service that you believe others could also benefit
from, please refer them my way, or if you have their contact information, please
jot it down so I can reach out to see if they would be interested in learning
more.

This is a technique that as a recruiter successfully plugs people into the service,
word gets around in the community that they are the person to reach out to for
opportunities. This is pure organic perpetuation, but it does not just work for
recruiters and corporate sales, it can work for a potential job seeker as well.
By building your network and actively engaging with companies and other
professionals in a positive light, your name can also be perpetuated to other
employers resulting in an interview or opportunity that you may not have had
otherwise.
The value added by a friend, recruiter, or other business professional
recommending you for a role may be the deciding factor for you getting an
interview or an offer.
So start building that network!
