The Value in Learning Selling Skills: My Sales Competition Experience

The Value in Learning Selling Skills: My Sales Competition Experience

When I registered to take a personal selling class with Stefanie Boyer, PhD?? this semester, I did not know what to expect. I had not yet chosen the career path that I wanted to pursue, and I was not very knowledgeable about sales. This course gave me the opportunity to participate in two real-world sales competitions, RNMKRs and Bryant University Selling Competition.?

My peers and I had the opportunity to utilize an application called RNMKRS . RNMKRs is a virtual selling competition in which students are able to practice selling with an AI. After practicing nearly 150 roleplays, I learned how to communicate efficiently with other companies and clients.

The Bryant University Sales Competition (BUSC) was another opportunity to practice my selling skills. I was able to use the new effective communication strategies that I learned from RNMKRS, and implement them into a real in-person sales competition. With this competition, I learned the value in leaving my comfort zone.?

I can say that whether I pursue a career in sales or not, the lessons I learned from participating in RNMKRS and BUSC are going to be valuable lessons for me to implement in any career I choose.? As the semester comes to a close, I am so grateful for the knowledge that I have gained from this course.?
